Happy Birthday to the Girl Child!

Happy 7th, pretty girl!

The happy results...

My kitchen looks so pretty! I stripped the wallpaper border and backsplash (not my style at all), and painted it "spiced butternut." I'm still working on ideas for the backsplash, but so far, I'm very pleased...

Weekend of Insanity

It was constant running this weekend...I spent Saturday at a workshop for MOMS Club, meeting up with presidents of various Kentucky clubs and other coordinators, trading ideas and information. It turned into a full day when I decided to meet up with some of them for dinner at Old Chicago (which, admittedly, I did not find to be very enjoyable). I arrived home at 9:30PM, in time to do some dishes, check my e-mail, and go to bed so I could wake up this morning at 5:30 AM to work the product sales tent at the Making Strides for Breast Cancer walk with some members of my own MOMS Club chapter. It was freeeeeezing. We had brunch at Mokka, in Newport, which was very enjoyable. I got home at 11AM, spent a few hours cleaning and cooking, and then hosted a Pampered Chef party. Fed my kiddles, did a little laundry...spent a little quality time with the studmuffin. He travels for work tomorrow...I think I may paint the kitchen...

I need to be on my way. Have a great night.

Thankful Thursday

I'm asking the kiddles to contribute to this week's Thankful Thursday.

Today, Monkeybutt is thankful for:

1. Food
2. Star Wars
3. He is awesome

Today, the Girl Child is thankful for:

1. Having a great family.
2. Her birthday is in a few weeks (and she will get presents.)
3. Beating up her brother

What lovely children they are. Now they are done being thankful, and have gone back to wrestling loudly. Well, as long as nobody is bleeding...

30 Days of Happiness: Days 26-30!

This is Finnegan. He is our Halloween cat - we got him from a neighbor while trick-or-treating in 2005. He was 4 months old at the time.
He is very playful, and he is most certainly the Girl Child's cat. But, as you can see, he's a snuggly sort, as well. Finnegan drives the older two cats nuts, but I couldn't imagine life without him.

I love October.

I love the smell of October. I love that the air smells of campfires and crunching leaves (which my husband kindly reminds me is actually the smell of decay, but I don't care.)

I took these pictures while I wandered our local arboretum during The Girl Child's soccer practice. I love soccer, don't get me wrong, but admittedly, soccer with 6 and 7 year old girls is rather brutal. They spend most of their time kicking the ball out of bounds and squealing. At least Monkeybutt's games have gotten exciting.

I'm still searching for a job, and my husband will be a much happier man when I find one. I think I will, too.

This ends my 30 days of happiness. I suppose I can blog about the things that bug me again now, huh? Obviously, I'm joking, I really am a rather happy sort. What I've learned from this project, however, is that I need to make sure I have my camera on me more often. I've enjoyed having a photographic record of what's been going on. I will certainly work on that.
